English Teacher

Dolores Huerta High School

I have been teaching English Literature in the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) for 20 years. I began my career at Willard Intermediate, where I spent five years before moving to Santa Ana High School. During my ten years there, I taught students in grades 9 through 12. Now in my fifth year at Dolores Huerta High School, I continue to teach English to students in grades 9 through 12.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s in Reading and Literacy, both from California State University, Fullerton. I have two teaching credentials—one in Secondary English and another in Literacy Coaching—as well as a certificate in Creative Writing from UCLA. I am passionate about promoting student choice and helping students discover joy in literature.
